A shop that keeps its books in public

Most jewellery is sold on atmosphere. This counter at Hopefarm, Whitefield sells on arithmetic. The day's rate goes up with the date on it, 22 karat and 18, gold by the gram and silver by the kilo, updated at half past ten. When a piece is posted, its weight is posted with it.

That is the whole promise of this page: nothing on it is a mood. Every number here is one Vishnu Jewels has already published, and the ones that change daily are one WhatsApp message away.

Three numbers to a ring

When this shop posts a ring, it posts the gross weight, the net gold and the diamond carats, printed on the photograph. Gross is the piece as it sits in the hand. Net is the gold alone. The stones are counted apart, in carats.

Few shops put that in writing before you walk in. Here it is their habit, and it means you can ask for the three numbers of anything in the case before you drive.

Ask for a piece's three numbers.

The name over the door

The shop is named for the god its cases keep. Balaji in gold for the throat, Krishna and Hanuman in silver for the shelf at home. In a market of initials and surnames, this one wears a namesake, and stocks him.
